I'm going to Mexico!

I am thrilled to let you know about my plans for the next two years! I have been accepted to be a part of the Helpers in Missions (H.I.M.) program. This is a missions-minded mentoring program sponsored by the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Right now, along with other HIM workers, I am diligently working towards finishing a 16-week missions training program that will better prepare me for the mission field. After completing the training in May, I plan to leave for Piedras Negras, Mexico in the middle of August. Once in Piedras Negras, I will work under the direct supervision of Josue Holguin, one of the brothers from the church there in Mexico.

During my two years in Mexico, I will serve in several projects: teaching children's Bible classes, outreach in the neighborhoods, tutoring programs, and visiting and encouraging the brothers and sisters there in Mexico. Currently, there is work being done to construct and build a new school and church for the handicapped and I will be helping in that process along the areas of construction, painting, and cleaning. I have visited Piedras Negras before on a Spring Break campaign and I am excited to return and serve in other areas, as well as continue the good works being done already.

The Elders of the Memorial Road Church of Christ oversee this program and provide each HIM worker with approximately 40% of their living expenses. They have seen the tremendous good that is accomplished through the HIM workers and are committed to see this work continue. That, however, means that I will need to raise the other 60%. This comes out to be close to $16,000, which is approximately $850.00 per month.

I am asking you to prayerfully consider partnering with me in my efforts to serve the Lord. We know that all the good works you do in this kingdom will be credited to your account, and that our God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:10-19). Many of you have helped me in many other mission campaigns, and I want to again thank you for your support -- both financially and prayerfully. Please continue to pray for me as I begin this new milestone in my life and prepare to step out in faith to serve the Lord in this way.

If you have a desire to partner with me in any way, please feel free to contact me at 972-965-6866 or at almanza.rachel@gmail.com.

In Him,
Rachel Almanza
