Mothers just do way too many selfless things that giving them just ONE day to tell them how much they mean to us doesn't feel like enough. Because of some health issues, I was blessed to spend Mother's Day with my mom this past weekend. What can I write about a mother who has been way too good to me? Like a friend wrote about her mother: somewhere between fighting non-stop in high school and going away to college, our relationship changed from enemies to best friends. In college my mother and I talked every day, sometimes more than once in a day! And even though my schedule prevents me from talking to her every day down in Mexico, we at least talk two or three times a week. For those of you who know my mother, you know that it's not a stretch to say that she is a saint and a selfless worker in the Kingdom. I am so blessed to have her as a mother, and blessed to have been raised under the guidance and counsel of such a strong woman of God. I LOVE YOU MOMMA!
Now, there are other women in my life who are making a big impact in my life as a woman of God, and one of those women is Jan McCoy. I met Jan about 5 years ago during an interview for a counseling position at Camp Blue Haven. Her husband, Michael, brought her along for the interview process, and my first "real" experience with them is one we've giggled about for the past 5 years. Since then, we have formed a lasting friendship and she has become one of my mentors in my life walk. She's been there to hear my laughs, shed tears with me, and put up with my prank personality! Since being in Mexico, she has become an even greater part in mentoring to me. We SKYPE regularly and has been a great member of the encouragement team during my time here. She's not my biological momma, but she's high on the list! LOVE YA!
These two women have become very special ladies to me in Mexico. The lady on the right is named Hortencia and the lady on the left is Mary. Hortencia is Karina's mother and since my time here in Mexico, I've considered her to be like a second mother to me. Mary is always looking out for me as well. Both have a strong heart for serving the LORD and they are wonderful women of God that lead a godly life through example. I am blessed to have them in my life.
What a sweet post and a great way to honor those who have had such an impact on you. :)
