Why I Am Excited!

First let me say that we serve an amazing King! Second, I want to update you on my financial status: As of April 6th, 2009, I have raised almost $12,000! That means I am searching and praying that God would provide the $6500 I have left to raise! What a great God we serve! I'll be honest -- It has been hard to keep my faith about finding financial support because of the economy, but God has been so faithful to me, that I can't help but find excitement in what He has stored for me in Mexico. Thanks to all who have helped me with my support -- financially and prayerfully. It has been a blessing to me and my life, and I hope that you will all continue to lift this process up in prayer as I continue to walk in Faith on the path God has for me.

I also had the idea to give you more insight on why I am excited about Mexico or why I have decided to spend the next few years there. I've made a Top 10 list of reasons why I'm excited about Mexico. Some of these reasons are short and sweet, and some of them take a little longer to explain. With that being said, it may take a few posts to get the entire list out to you. So check back every now and then for more reasons why I'm thrilled to move to Mexico!

I've probably gone to Mexico twice a year since I was a young girl. I have family in Monterrey, I've accompanied my parents on numerous mission campaigns they sponsored, and have taken about 5 trips down to Mexico in the last 2 years. Mexico has a large part of my heart, and every time that I am down there visiting, I always leave wanting to spend more time there. There is something about the culture and way of life that draws me there, and I can't wait to see how I will react to such a different lifestyle. I'm sure at first it will be difficult to get used to, but I know without a doubt that I am going to just fall deeply in love with the people and culture of Mexico that it will be extremely difficult for me to get used to the American way of life when I return.

Have you ever been to a church service in Mexico? It requires so much more than showing up! Even before I could speak, understand, and read Spanish, there was something about the way the church in Mexico worships that would touch my heart. I've yet to sit in a service without crying! It's just so awesome to hear them praise God because they do it with all of their heart. In the Mexican culture, there is no such thing as mediocracy. Some of the hardest jobs we have here in America are being done by hard working Hispanics. It's our nature to do everything at 100%. Because of this way of life, Hispanic Christians are devoted to living their lives everyday for the sake of the Cross. This display of devotion to Christ is reflected in their worship, and they are so in love with obeying Him. You can see it in how they treat others -- with hospitality and kindness. You can see it in how they sing hymns -- at full volume no matter how tone deaf they are. And you can see it in how they live their lives -- they serve Him irregardless of the things they have or don't have. I'm excited about being a part of the church in Mexico. Excited to worship every week with those who are also excited about praising our God. It'll be such an emotional time for me every week, and I can't wait to get that started!
