Alright, so I´ve decided to take on a challenge for myself and for the sake of my [dying] blog, to take the next 500 days and blog about them. It would be pretty neat to have this to show friends, family, and etc after I´ve returned, so from here on out... be looking for my adventure here in Mexico -- all 500 days of it!
(1):
Yesterday was really enjoyable. Worshipping together with the church was exactly what I needed. It was interesting to sit there and, even though I didn´t understand much of it, I could tell that these people had been waiting a whole week to come together again and praise God together. It was very encouraging and uplifting.
After lunch, we travelled across the border to Eagle Pass (the border town) to buy school clothes for the girls (Estafany -12; Lizbeth - 10; Jovani - 8) and the things I still needed for my room. We spent all afternoon shopping, and when we returned back into Mexico, it was already time for evening services. After church, a group of young adults - who I had met during bible class that morning - invited me over to someone´s house because it was their birthday. It was so much fun! We had chocolate cake with flan on top (flan is one of my least favorite desserts, but the cake part was good), and chicharrones (kind of like a chip here, but I won´t tell you what their made of - haha!).

From Left to Right: Daniel, Paco, Astin, Sarai, Juli, Myself, and Sonrita (ok so those last two girls names are wrong, I think.)
We hung out in Astin´s room and played RockBand. Since most of them have been taking english classes for 3-6 years, they know a lot of english, and so it was easy to communicate with them. PLUS, they are just as crazy as all of my friends back in the States, so I felt right at home. They loved having me with them, and I hope that they invite me to more places with them. I think next Sunday we´re going to play volleyball after church. I´m excited!
Josue made chorizo and eggs for me, and we had a late dinner. I got to talk with Josue and his wife, Maru, more and I absolutely love it here! They are such great people, and really are an answered prayer! I am thrilled to be adopted into their family, and I can only pray that God would continue to bless all of us while we serve the Lord.
God Bless! ¡Dios de bendiga!
When I first read your blog, mom, Luke and Ro were waiting in the car. I had an emotional moment, I cried. It hit me that you were there in P.N. and had made friends that soon. It (the language barrier and if you would find friends your age)worried me for while and then I was happy for you! I love you Rachel, more than you'll know! God has ... Read Moregreat plans for you. We love you and also miss you! I thank God for givng me the God opportunities to model for you Jesus. I say that with alot of emotion! I don't know if I every told you this, but you are living out the dream I prayed almost 35 years ago. God gave me a good wife and two (+ one) wonderful children and you are one of those wonderful children. You make this father very proud! I know that your mother feels the same way! Lucas doesn't say much, but I know he feels proud of having a sister like you!
ReplyDeleteShalom,
Blessings to you in Piedras Negras! I am so glad to hear about how things are going for you. I hope you can continue to keep things posted, even if it is not daily. It will help you later remember the details of your feelings and experiences and see the progress in the journey. I continue to think of you and pray for the lives of those you touch.
