Sarai, Carina and I went and passed out church flyers last night. We have a Youth gathering this Saturday, and after hearing about 85 kids come, Sarai and I decided we could walk the neighborhood and invite some people to come. We were given some little pamphlets about the church - service times, what we do, what we believe and why we believe it, and after studying them for a while, headed out. I don´t know how many pamphlets we had, but I do know that we had a lot, and by the end of the night we only had 4 left.
Sarai and Carina are such wonderful women of God. They are accepting of my ideas and excited that I am here to help serve the Lord. They knew exactly what to do, what to say, and how to handle ¨different¨ situations as we walked the neighborhood. They weren´t shy or embarassed to be knocking on people´s doors, and they were excited to share with others about the Word of God and the body of Christ that meets in Col. Gonzalez. I was surprised that most people were accepting of our pamphlets, unlike the experiences I´ve had in the States. Of course, the children´s eyes lit up more than the parents, but I was still encouraged by the accepting attitude by all those we met.
We didn´t have an experience with someone that would be considered blog-worthy, but I have without a doubt, the faith to know that what we did last night was for the good of the Kingdom. I tried my hardest to explain to the girls that we never know where people are when we hand them that pamphlet, and that just because we don´t reap the seed that was planted, doesn´t mean that the seed won´t grow. Afterwards, we prayed together and I asked God to not let us become weary for the good we did. I hope that we get the chance to go back out in the neighborhood again soon. Maybe next time, we can take a prayer walk around the neighborhoods. I´d sure like that.
Hey girlie! It's exciting to read about what you're doing there in Mexico. I know people are being touched by your service to the Lord. Oh, BTW, I put you on my blogroll. Liftin' you up to the Father today!
