I write to bring good news (Buenas Noticias) -- I just received an email from my supervisor about my car.
It will cost about $700 to fix the damages on my car. $100 for a new tire, and $100 for the paint job. Adding this to the lawyer fees and jail fees - the total cost of this incident is $2100. I am excited that the Lord was working throughout this whole ordeal and has brought about one good thing after the other from an incident that most unbelievers would find no hope in.
Blessing #1: I wasn't physically hurt. The accident could have been so much worse than it really was.
Blessing #2: Being detained and in prison opened my eyes to a lot of things- the love my family in Mexico has for me; and how much of the "world" I'm not seeing in this town. I know that the experience of being in prison will only benefit my ministry here in Mexico.
Blessing #3: Before the accident I had a deep longing and desire to spend some quality time with my family and close friends. Being back, I've been able to fill that desire. It has refreshed and encouraged me beyond what I could have thought.
Blessing #4: Since I've spent almost 2 and a half weeks away from Mexico, I've realized how much of my heart is there in Piedras Negras. I loved coming back and having the chance to talk with people about my experiences in Mexico. It would only flame the fire within me that is beginning to grow for the people and work I'm doing there.
In August I was really excited to get to Mexico because I had no idea what God had in store for me there. As I return to Mexico, I find myself feeling a little different. I would love to stay here in the States and continue to be encouraged by more friends and family, but I also miss my work there in Mexico. My prayer is that I can return and things will be back to normal for me. I don't think I'll be driving the car for another couple of months (because of safety reasons) but talking with my supervisor, Josue, we've figured out how to make this hassle less complicated.
I head to Piedras Negras this coming weekend. Keep me and my family in your prayers. Thank you, again, for all your prayers, words of encouragement, and financial support.
Blessing #5: I have such an amazing cloud of witnesses.
Be strong in the Lord,
Rachel
I love this post. When things calm down we should have a chat. I'll be praying for you as you travel to Mexico this weekend. LOVE YOU!
