Turtles

I want to introduce you to my two new pets: Pancho and Bella. Pancho's name came easy, but the girls and I drew names for Bella. Contrary to what some of you may think, Bella is not named after the female lead character in the Twilight series. Elsa was second choice, but we pulled out Bella from the jar of names. I decided to get these two little pet turtles to keep me in high spirits. I am now responsible for these little two lives, and surprisingly my emotions are very much attached to their well-being.

In other news, this entire week there are church meetings out at KM 10 Church of Christ. You know, all of the churches here in Piedras Negras have their characteristics, and KM 10 is a very family oriented, unified church family. This week, the different classes are doing presentations over materials they have been learning all year long. They've also invited other preachers from the different CoC's to give sermons. This week long church retreat ends with the annual Youth Jam. Tonight the little toddler class and jovencito (youth group ages 11-14) class gave their presentations. It simply amazes me at how much scripture these kids know. I know we teach our kids back in America to write scripture on their heart, but there is something simply impressive when I watch 4 and 5 year olds quote 5 to 10 passages of scripture! In January, the church is going to write the curriculum for 2010. Hopefully I can meet up with some of them to learn how they organize their children's classes.
